"Shaman and Rain Bird"

This painting is also be considered part of the Mesa Verde suite of paintings. It shows a shamanistic figure in a trance-like attitude with one outstretched arm similar to the "Hitchhiker" series of paintings done by Ancient Puebloans in Barrier Canyon. The bird is looking at a rain symbol as depicted in petroglyphs of the area. To the left of the figure's paint-splattered hand are two vaguely discernable hand prints (with black thumb) which allude to the creative powers of the shaman.
